COVID-19 Updates

COVID-19 Updates

April 2nd, 2020 Statement

To our Alumni, Volunteers, Sponsors and Prospective Ambassadors,

As the events surrounding the COVID-19 virus have continued to develop, HOBY Canada has continued to monitor the situation alongside our Provincial Affiliates. In our decision making, we have taken into account the recommendations of the Ministry of Health, the World Health Organization and local healthcare professionals.

In light of this, it is only after careful consideration that we have decided to postpone all of our in-person spring conferences and workshops nationwide.

The health and safety of our staff and ambassadors is our number one concern and based upon the information we have, we do not feel that we can responsibly host any physical events without jeopardizing the health and safety of those in attendance.

We understand, and share in the disappointment that this brings to many of our Alumni and prospective Ambassadors.

As always, HOBY Canada continues to remain committed to the development of our nation’s youth. In order to continue moving forward in this vision, HOBY Canada is pursuing the following initiatives;

  • Modified Eligibility for 2021: Since the Grade 10 Ambassadors of 2020 will no longer be able to attend our programs this year, registration will be extended to these students once again for our 2021 programs. Further information will be provided by your local seminar sites at a later date.
  • HOBY Net 2020: In order to keep our Alumni engaged and empowered, HOBY Canada will be holding an online seminar for HOBY Canada Alumni of all years at the beginning of May. More information on dates to come, be sure to follow our social media for the latest updates.
  • “HOBY Can” Initiative: Our HOBY RAE team will be releasing a new initiative in the coming weeks focused on community engagement and volunteerism in light of COVID-19.

We thank you all for your understanding and patience during this time. We hope you will be able to join us for our upcoming initiatives. Once again, we encourage all of our HOBY Community to continue to be outstanding leaders in personal hygiene and follow the recommended preventative measures as put forward by Canada’s Ministry of Health

March 14th, 2020 Statement

To our Alumni, Volunteers, Sponsors and Perspective Ambassadors,

In light of recent events concerning the COVID-19 Virus, we have received many questions concerning the status of our upcoming Leadership Seminar on May 1st to 3rd, and subsequent workshops across the country.

To begin, HOBY Canada continues to remain committed to the development of our nation’s youth, and as such it is our present intention to continue moving forward with the planning and implementation of our programs.

The health and safety of our ambassadors and volunteers is our highest priority. We continue to monitor the situation closely and will follow the recommendations of the Ministry of Health and respective Federal, Provincial, and Municipal guidelines.

Should the situation change and further measures need to be taken, our team will inform you as soon as possible. In the meantime, we encourage all of our HOBY Community to continue to be outstanding leaders in personal hygiene and follow the recommended preventative measures as put forward by Canada’s Ministry of Health.
