Throughout his eight years as a lifeguard and swimming instructor for his local recreation center, Rod’s dedication to serving the needs of his community has grown and flourished into many different projects and volunteer roles. Whether he is helping organize a fundraising run or volunteering with his local senior center, Rod finds himself driven by the positive impacts his work ethic and community leadership can have on people. To extend this commitment to his community, Rod helped found the BC branch of HOBY Canada in 2014, providing leadership building opportunities to youths, free of cost. This was a particularly worthwhile cause for Rod because during his youth he found that there was a demand for leadership programming that was accessible to a more diverse network of young leaders in the Greater Vancouver Area.
In his spare time, Rod likes to play his guitar, go outdoors and play, or spend quality time with friends over a hot cup coffee. Currently, after finishing his Bachelors of Science degree with honors, Rod is pursuing a Master’s degree in the field of Biomedical Technologies.
