Leadership Seminar

Every May, HOBY Western Ontario holds a 3-day leadership seminar to bring together Grade 10 leaders from local high schools and community groups. Student ambassadors participate in leadership & team-building activities, hear from inspiring keynote speakers, and actively engage in community service projects. This high-energy conference allows students to develop their own personal leadership style while making lifelong friendships in a fun and inclusive environment.

Community Leadership Education Workshops (CLEWs)

HOBY's CLeWs are turbo-charged, nationwide events! Our rockstar volunteers from local businesses, civic groups, and HOBY alumni put on these awesome six- to eight-hour programs for 30 to 50 high school grade 10s. It's leadership growth at high speed, happening year-round at your local school or community centre!

NEW: Mentorship Program

The HOBY Canada Mentorship Program is a new year-long initiative designed to connect HOBY alumni and continue the leadership journey beyond a seminar or CLEW. The program is designed to foster meaningful relationships between experienced HOBY alumni and graduating high school students who are beginning their post-secondary journey. Mentorship pairs will connect to discuss leadership, post-secondary education, applications, scholarships, student life, personal goals, and everything that comes with making the transition from high school to post secondary.

Testimonial

My time at HOBY has been one of the most life-changing experiences of my life. From the moment I received my acceptance letter, It made me feel like I was good enough. I began my time at HOBY a shut-in, wishing to go home, not participating in anything. I hated everything about being there, and I spoke to nobody. But before long, I was hugging my group mates, crying as I received my “most improved” award. It changed my entire outlook on life, changing me from a quiet, closed-in introvert to a friendly, outgoing LEADER. I even remain in contact with my group members, true connections were formed and lives were changed here.

Ryan, 2023 alumni
