The seminar is free! We are very fortunate to have the financial support of Optimist clubs, corporate sponsors and many volunteers. This allows us to offer our seminar at no cost to students and their families.
Yes. We do our best to coordinate carpooling for students who may need it. Upon acceptance, a registration form is sent out where students can indicate if they need a ride to/from the seminar. We will then be in touch to coordinate carpooling.
Students may keep their phones and smart watches with them, but we ask them to be respectful and limit use during programming, especially when speakers are presenting. We will never prevent students from contacting their families if needed. Families will also receive our seminar’s emergency contact number in case you need to reach staff quickly.
Our seminar takes place on a college campus, which includes elevators and some accessible spaces. We aim to make the experience as inclusive as possible, so we encourage parents or guardians to please contact us in advance at recruitment.wo@hobycanada.org (mailto:recruitment.wo@hobycanada.org)to discuss specific accessibility needs. The conference is high-energy and can be stimulating at times, so students are welcome to bring items like earplugs, tinted glasses, fidget tools, stress balls, or other supports that help regulate sensory input.
