A Night Under the Stars: Reconnecting with the HOBY Family
On May 30, 2026, I had the privilege of attending the A Night Under the Stars, HOBY Reunion Gala at the BMO Centre in London, Ontario. From the moment I arrived, I was warmly welcomed by Emma and Kayleigh from the HOBY Western Ontario Alumni Association, whose hard work and dedication helped make the evening such a memorable success.
Seeing more than 40 members of the HOBY family gathered together in one room was truly special. The evening was filled with laughter, meaningful conversations, and opportunities to reconnect with friends and fellow alumni whom I had not seen in quite some time. One of the things that has always made HOBY unique is the lasting relationships that are formed, and this event was a wonderful reminder of that.
Throughout the evening, we enjoyed a delicious dinner while sharing stories and reflecting on some of our favourite HOBY memories. We also took part in exciting Kahoot trivia games that brought out everyone's competitive spirit, followed by singing, dancing, and plenty of laughs that kept the energy high throughout the night.
One of the highlights of the evening was gathering together for a group photo. It was inspiring to see so many alumni, volunteers, and supporters standing side by side, a snapshot that I hope will become a cherished part of HOBY's history and archives for years to come.
Events like the Reunion Gala remind us that HOBY is so much more than a weekend seminar or leadership program. It is a lifelong community built on leadership, service, friendship, and making a positive difference in the lives of others. No matter how much time passes, coming back together feels like reconnecting with family.
I would like to extend my sincere congratulations and thanks to everyone who helped organize this incredible evening. The countless hours of planning and preparation were evident in every detail, and your dedication created an event that brought people together in a meaningful way. Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the evening so memorable.
I am already looking forward to the next opportunity to reconnect with our amazing HOBY family. Until then, let's continue to inspire, lead, and make a difference in our communities.
